Blog 3 - My Dream Job
Hello, dear students. Hoping you are enjoying yourselves this weekend; in today’s blog I will talk about my dream job.
Despite the fact that I already enjoy teaching here at the University of Chile, I had considered the idea of going to other countries where teachers are actually fairly paid and with better working conditions. As I said before, one of my main dreams was to go to China because teachers are better paid there and being a teacher is considered an honorable profession.
Since China provides many opportunities for English teachers in terms of workplace (you can teach at kindergarten, school, university level if you have the appropriate certificates), I would like to work at a university or a language academia.
For this, I surely will need to develop my soft skills in terms of effective communication with my students, colleagues, and administrative personnel. Also, I consider open-mindedness an essential skill since I will have to adapt to a whole new culture and adopt customs and habits that might be odd for me.
What I am the happiest the most is the salary: for an English teacher with zero experience, the minimum wage starts at RMB9000, meaning, it’s over 1 million Chilean pesos. Amazing, isn’t it? And educational centers truly pay higher salaries to more experienced teachers, so it’s a win-win choice for me hehe.
I hope that, if I ever go there, I could really study a master’s degree in public administration or a bachelor’s degree in plastic arts.
What do you think, students?
See you next week 😊!

Hello teacher, I liked your post, and I think it is a great idea to go to a country like China to have better opportunities in the field of teaching. Furthermore, I believe that in Chile teachers are not paid enough.

Hello teacher, what a pity that in Chile this important profession is not adequately paid. On the other hand, it sounds like an exciting and promising opportunity you are considering in China and I hope you achieve your goals, I wish you the best!

Hello teacher, I hope you have a nice weekend, I was surprised that in China they pay teachers so much and I think it is something that should be replicated here in Chile, I also feel that this profession should be respected more, especially teachers of basic and medium, since they mold future generations.
ResponderEliminarI admire your vocation, it's very difficult to have a profession so important and at the same time poorly valued in Chile :/
ResponderEliminarI admire your vocation. Chile has an unfair debt towards teachers and I hope that in the nearest future the remuneration will be fair for their work :)
ResponderEliminarHello, I really admire the people who dedicate themselves to this profession and I am sorry to hear that such an important career is not remunerated fairly in Chile. I hope you can go and teach there without further complications. Greetings.

ResponderEliminarhello, teacher. What a pity that in the country the profession has so many labor shortages, however I believe that we should all value the work of teachers as they ultimately help to create a better future. I hope you can achieve all your goals, see u!
ResponderEliminarhello teacher, it is sad to hear that your profession here is not well valued and that you prefer to go to other countries, I mean sad for the country, I hope you can achieve your goal and receive what a teacher really deserves because without you we can not be what we are.
